RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT
It is the responsibility of the student to know and to observe the requirements of his/her curriculum and the rules governing academic work. Although the advisor will attempt to help the student make wise decisions, the ultimate responsibility for meeting the requirements rests with the student.
An Associate in Applied Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences Degree requires satisfactory completion of a minimum of 60 semester hours of academic work with a cumulative grade-point average of not less than “C” (2.0). Candidates for this degree must present an organized program of study which meets the following core requirements. Authority for substitutions must be obtained from the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
College Requirement: 99 All first time degree-seeking students who score 73 or above on the COMPASS reading exam will take HUDV0100, First Year Experience.
All degree-seeking students who score below 73 on the COMPASS reading exam will take HUDV0101: Strategies for Academic Excellence/Lifelong Learning. (See exemptions)
Basic Skills courses, including:
• 6 hours of Composition (in some cases, ENGL0206, Technical Writing may be substituted for Composition II)
• 3 hours of Public Speaking or Interpersonal Communication
Mathematics courses, including:
• 3 hours of college-level mathematics; math core elective or specific program requirement. 55 Check 66the General Education Core Curriculum for the specific courses available
3 hours of Humanities courses from one of the following disciplines:
• Modern Language

3 hours of Social and Behavioral Science courses from one of the following disciplines:
• Political Science

3 credit hours in Natural and Physical Science; check the General Education Core Curriculum for the specific courses available
Additional credit hours of course work to complete 60-hour degree.
