Kids on Campus

Kids on Campus’s focus is to educate, enrich and empower students aged 8-18.  This amazing summer camp will provide a comprehensive program with a mixture of physical, mental, emotional and social activities in a safe environment by educators, community leaders, and industry professionals. 

The camp starts June 4, 2018 and runs until July 27, 2018.

About Kids on Campus

Kids on Campus’s focus is to educate, enrich and empower students aged 8-18.  This amazing summer camp will provide a comprehensive program with a mixture of physical, mental, emotional and social activities in a safe environment by educators, community leaders, and industry professionals. 

The camp is available to students from Wyandotte County and the Kansas City metro area.

Kids on Campus’s focus is to educate, enrich and empower students aged 8-18.  This amazing summer camp will provide a comprehensive program with a mixture of physical, mental, emotional and social activities in a safe environment by educators, community leaders, and industry professionals. 

The camp is available to students from Wyandotte County and the Kansas City metro area.

Students engage five days a week, over the eight-week period, in activities to learn, grow and excel in the areas of science, technology, education, arts, and math.  On a daily basis, students will be involved in healthy physical activities that provide lifelong opportunities. A collaboration of community agencies and professional industry organizations will provide adaptive learning outside the classroom according to their grade level.  KSU Olathe will provide students hands-on experience with activities in veterinary medicine, plants, and horticulture, food science and nutrition, grain science, engineering, music and architecture.  Students will fish and participate in Conservation Day, and attend events at the American Royal (Dairy Days, Horse Show and Career Days).  Lifelong skills, financial management, and career planning incorporated into the eight-week program by industry partners and community guest speakers. 

Students will receive two healthy meals (breakfast, lunch) and a healthy afternoon snack per day.  Program emphasis on the importance of healthy eating, basic meal shopping, preparation, and consumption. 

Special programming for high school students includes an ACT Boot Camp, Black Achievers Scholarship Luncheon, leadership training, and college and career pathway opportunities.

Kids on Campus is a joint venture of Kansas City Kansas Community College and KC United S.T.E.A.M.  Also additional community partnerships with CHC, Snapback and Young Women on the Move, OK Program (KCKPD/KCKBPOA), and (KCK-Youth Violence Prevention Program) by Kansas University, Kansas State University- Olathe, and American Royal.  Working together for eliminating duplication of services, and providing a robust summer camp to 300 youth, aged 8-18, in Wyandotte County.
