An evening of Jazz and Classical music will be offered by Kansas City Kansas Community College choirs at London Heights Baptist Church Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.
Three KCKCC vocal groups, the Concert and Jazz choirs and the Madrigal Singers, will be performing in the annual Fall Concert under the direction of Dale Shetler. The concert is open to the public without charge although donations will be accepted. London Heights is located at 734 N. 78th in Kansas City, Kan.
The Concert Choir will perform Vivaldi’s double choir, “For His Heart is Fixed;” Effinger’s “No Mark” featuring Kansas City baroque oboe specialist; and Randall Thompson’s “Last Words of David” accompanied by Joyce Streeby. Music major Amy Olber, a Sumner Academy graduate, will sing “Fiocca La Neve.”
Madrigals performed in seven different programs at the Renaissance Festival will be sung by the Madrigal Singers including “April is in My Mistress’ Face,” “Let Go, Why Do You Stay Me” and “O Eyes of My Beloved.”
The Jazz Choir will perform “More I Cannot Wish You” from “Guys and Dolls” and arranged for the Jazz Choir by Phil Mattson; “Bea’s Flat” with scat solos by Michael Young and Gabe Harris; and “Here’s to Life,” another Mattson arrangement featuring tenor soloist Tim Marmon.
