Kansas City Kansas Community College will not be offering NYSP this summer because of extensive renovations going on around the main campus. The renovations involve the exteriors of many campus buildings, the Field House floor and HVAC system and the softball field.

KCKCC has been holding NYSP for almost 20 years. Federal funding for the program ended eight years ago, and the college along with Kansas City, Kansas School District’s Kid Zone and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County Parks and Recreation has funded the program since that time. Campers pay a nominal fee of $25 for the camp.

Swimming, golf, soccer, basketball, volley ball and soft ball have been the mainstays of the program, but the renovations are needed and will proceed when the fewest number of credit students are on campus.
