Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center

The Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center  (TEC) offers  over 20 high demand career programs in a state of the art 130,000 square feet complex.  The TEC offers hands-on technical skill training programs during the day which lead to certificates and employment in office and computer technology, service and health occupations, or trade and industrial fields. TEC curriculum is aligned with business and industry standards. Advanced students may participate in work-based learning experiences or internships. Leavenworth Center

KCKCC-Leavenworth Center is located at 225 Cherokee in downtown Leavenworth, Kansas, offering credit and non-credit classes each semester. The Center opened in Spring 1988 as an alternative for local residents to the 25 mile drive to Campus. The Center consists of 21 classrooms, including science, computer and CNA laboratories. Qualified instructors teach the same courses that are offered on Campus.

In August 2007, OnTrack, the non-credit adult basic education and GED preparation program, was added to the programs available at KCKCC-Leavenworth Center. This adult learning program is designed to improve skills and help students realize their educational dreams. Each program is customized to student needs and includes employment skills training to prepare for a future career. Classes are offered during the evening Monday-Wednesday, 5:30-9:00 p.m. Registration for classes starting March 23 is currently underway.

English as a Second Language is also available for students whose first language is not English. Classes for academic preparation include progressive levels of reading, listening and speaking, writing, grammar and vocabulary. Classes are small to provide each students with personalized attention.

In addition, KCKCC-Leavenworth Center provides classroom space for the English Language Support Course for spouses of International Officers attending Command and General Staff College and the Senior Citizens Personal Computer Users Group meets at the Center on Wednesdays, 12:30-3:30 p.m.

KCKCC-Leavenworth Center offers a supportive, friendly learning environment. Our focus is student success beginning with the application process to become a college student through graduation and transfer. Tutoring and academic support services, accommodations for students with disabilities, and academic advising are available. A wide variety of classes leading to a degree and non-credit classes for professional certifications and personal enrichment are available.

KCKCC's main campus is located in Wyandotte County at 7250 State Avenue. The campus is easily accessible from I-70 with the College Parkway Exit.  A few blocks away from the main campus is our Technical Education Center located at 6565 State Ave. We also serve the Leavenworth area with our center located at 225 Cherokee St. Maps & Directions
