Our Campus and Centers

Kansas City Kansas Community College is a centrally located public 2-year institution in northeast Kansas located within Wyandotte County.  On campus facilities are second to none including state of the art classrooms and equipment, sport fields, and housing.  The campus also places an emphasis on safety of students through a dedicated police force.

The College campus located at 7250 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, was built in 1972; since that time, additional buildings have been constructed. In 1996, most buildings on campus were renamed. (See the campus map following the title page.) In 1977, the Performing Arts Center, which houses a 363-seat Little Theater, was dedicated. The Nursing Building was completed and dedicated in March of 1981. The Community Education Building was completed in the fall of 1986. The Jack Flint Hi-Tech Building was completed and dedicated in the spring of 1992. The Wellness Center, which was opened in the spring of 1992 in the gymnasium, quickly outgrew its space and has been located in the Allied Health Building since 1996. The AHB was renamed in 2016 to the Health Professions Building. Construction on the new Jewell Student Center began in the fall of 1994, and many of the Student Services offices moved in at the beginning of the 1996 Spring Semester. By spring break, all Student Services had relocated to the new center.

The Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center  (TEC) offers  over 20 high demand career programs in a state of the art 130,000 square feet complex.  The TEC offers hands-on technical skill training programs during the day which lead to certificates and employment in office and computer technology, service and health occupations, or trade and industrial fields. TEC curriculum is aligned with business and industry standards. Advanced students may participate in work-based learning experiences or internships. Leavenworth - KCKCC Pioneer Career Center

Offering both technical certificate and associate degree programs, the Pioneer Career Center is open to community members seeking further educational career opportunities as well as eligible juniors and seniors at Leavenworth High School. High school students will have the chance to take classes in a “hands-on environment” while earning college credit at the same time. Credits earned at the career center can be used toward earning an associate’s degree at KCKCC or can be transferred to other educational institutions. Tuition for current high school students is free, although there might be additional fees for some of the programs. Transportation will be provided by the Leavenworth School District.

Programs and services previously offered at KCKCC-Leavenworth will also move to the Pioneer Career Center. This includes all KCKCC classes, the GED program, financial aid and career placement assistance.

 Programs that will be offered at the Pioneer Career Center include:

  • CNA / CMA
  • Construction Technology
  • Office Assistant
  • Building and Property Maintenance
  • Major Appliance Repair
  • Electrical Technology
  • HVAC

Classes will be offered in morning or afternoon sessions and evening credit classes will be available for some courses.
