Financial Aid Checklist


Apply for Admission to KCKCC

If you are a new student to KCKCC you must complete an Admissions Application.  Start this process at   Please submit your official high school and all college transcripts to the Admission’s Office.

Prepare to Apply for Federal Financial Aid

File 2014 Federal Income Tax Returns at least two weeks prior to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  When completing the FAFSA, please use the “IRS Data Retrieval Tool” to prevent further delays in processing your Financial Aid.

Gather financial information:

  • 2014 W-2 forms
  • 2014 Federal Income Tax Return
  • Records of child support statements for all children (received or paid) in from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014.
  • If you are a dependent student you will also need parent(s)/stepparent information.
    • Social Security number(s) and birth dates
    • Income and financial records (as listed above)
  • Current bank statements and records of stocks, bonds, and other investments.

Complete the 2016-17 FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed to determine eligibility for federal grants, student loans, work-study and some college scholarships.  Apply on-line at  There are no fees for this process.
  • Select KCKCC as a school on your FAFSA
    • The federal school code for KCKCC is 001925.
    • The results of your FAFSA will be submitted electronically within 3-5 business days to KCKCC for review.
  • Request a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at
  • Complete this process for you and one parent if you are a dependent student (the PIN will be used as an electronic signature).
  • Make sure you save your application and click the “Submit” button located on the very last page of the online FAFSA form.
  • Print a copy of your confirmation page to keep for your records.  You will use the same PIN in the future.

Review your Student Aid Report (SAR).

You will be sent an e-mail that contains a copy of the results of your FAFSA, referred to as a Student Aid Report (SAR). Make sure the information is correct and that you have indicated KCKCC as your college choice. If your application has been rejected contact the KCKCC Student Financial Aid Office for assistance.  If there are any errors on your Student Aid Report you may bring a copy of your report with the correct information to the KCKCC Student Financial Aid Office and your correction will be processed electronically. You may also return to the FAFSA web-site and submit corrected information.


Apply for scholarships and performance grants.

Receive notification from the KCKCC Student Financial Aid Office.

Once the Student Financial Aid Office at KCKCC receives your FAFSA we will notify you by mail. Any requests for more information to complete your file will be sent to your KCKCC student e-mail.   If no further information is needed, you will be sent an official award notice to your student e-mail indicating the amount of Federal Pell Grant you can expect to receive each semester.  If you are not eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, you may still be eligible for other Federal Student Aid. KCKCC will not automatically award student loans.  Loans will be processed upon student request.  Complete the KCKCC loan application process if you wish to borrow funds for school.
