Students at Kansas City Kansas Community College will have the opportunity to listen to a local actor, making it big on the small screen.

Kansas City-native Nathan Darrow will be speaking to theater students at 11:20 a.m. June 28 in Room 3511 on the KCKCC Main Campus. Any students, staff or faculty that is interested in his presentation is welcome to attend.

Darrow is currently appearing in the title role of “Hamlet” at the Heart of American Shakespeare Festival in Kansas City, Mo. The festival, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, features high-quality professional productions of Shakespeare as well as year-round education programs for Kansas City youth.

Darrow, a Shawnee Mission North High School graduate, is best known for his role as Secret Service Agent Edward Meechum in Netflix’s “House of Cards and as Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze in Fox’s “Gotham.” Prior to moving to New York, he also taught acting classes at KCKCC.

“My Theatre Appreciation class had the opportunity to see his (Darrow’s) performance at the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival,” said Charlie Leader, professor of theatre at KCKCC. “He was terrific.”
