Student Health Services
The Student Health Services Office is staffed by a certified, registered nurse and is equipped with a variety of supplies, equipment, and over the counter medications for treatment of minor illness or injury. Vision and hearing screenings are available on an appointment basis. Tuberculosis (TB) screening/questionnaire must be complete as requested by the state and is monitored. Therefore TB testing is available. Flu, Pneumonia and Tetanus shots are available annually provided by an outside source. A local physician is consulted regularly to provide standing orders for treatment. No problem is too small, so please feel free to utilize the service.
Sexually and family planning information and referral is provided on a one-to-one basis, or in print. Pregnancy testing and safer sex kits are available. HIV testing is done each semester provided by outside agency. A student's instructors will be notified of an extended absence that is due to illness (2 days or more) per student request. Call between office hours. The nurse is available as a friendly, confidential listener. If you have a need to discuss a problem or concern, please feel free to drop by. If the nurse is busy an appointment can be arranged, usually within the hour.
