Graduation Ceremony

All students completing Graduation requirements are encouraged to participate in May 2016 graduation activities. However, graduating students who do not plan to participate in the graduation ceremony must complete a “Release from Graduation” form in the Dean of Student Services office, TEC, or at the Leavenworth Center.

Graduation Information

Graduation Fee

A graduation processing fee of $20.00 is required even if students do not participate in the Graduation ceremony. The fee may be paid in the Business Office or online at www.kckcc.edu. The Graduation Fee must be paid before your cap and gown can be picked up.

Graduation Photos

Professional Graduation Photos will be available for individual graduates by Egans Photography at the following KCKCC locations:

Pioneer Career Center
April 10th
9:30 am – 1:00 pm

Main Campus
April 11th
8:00 am – 7:00 pm

April 12th
8:00 am – 7:00 pm

TEC
April 14th
9:30 am – 12:30 pm

In addition, photographs will be taken of each graduate as they are receiving their diploma during the Graduation Ceremonies. Photos may be purchased after a proof / order form is mailed to the graduations’ home address following the Graduation ceremonies. There is no obligation to purchase these photos.

Cap & Gown - Graduation Announcements 

Cap and gown distribution will begin April 17, 2018 - May 17, 2018 through the KCKCC Bookstore during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

Caps and Gowns will also be available during the Bookstore's Book Buy Back Event May 8-14, 2018. Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.  The Bookstore is located on the lower level of the Jewell Student Center. Sizing availability of caps and gowns will be on a first come, first serve basis. Exact sizing cannot be guaranteed on the final days of distribution. Caps and gowns will be delivered to the Pioneer Career Center. Contact them early with your cap and gown size. 

Souvenir tassels may be purchased for $5.95 at the Bookstore.

The Bookstore offers Graduation Announcements for sale. For questions regarding class rings or personalized announcements please visit Jostens’ website at www.college.jostens.com.

Honors Education

Students who are graduating as an Honors Education Graduate (have completed required amount of honors tutorials and honors courses) must register with the Director of Honors Education in order to have this distinction noted in the Commencement Program and on their academic transcript by April 10, 2018, Room 3600; 913-288-7190.

Phi Theta Kappa Stoles

Graduating students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa are permitted to wear Phi Theta Kappa stoles and tassels at Graduation. These students must register with the Phi Theta Kappa Director in order to have this distinction noted in the Commencement Program by April 10, 2018, Room 3600; 913-288-7190. The cost for the stole and tassel is $35.00 and must also be purchased by April 10, 2018 in Room 3600. 

Honor Cord

Associate Degree seeking Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 graduating students with a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA will receive a gold honor cord at check-in before the Graduation ceremony. Honors are awarded for completed coursework. All Honors are based on the Fall 2016 Semester. July 2017 Summer candidates who participate will not receive honors recognition at the Graduation ceremony. Honors students who do not attend the Graduation Ceremony will receive their honor cords by mail with their diplomas.

Military Affiliated Graduation Cord

Recipients of the red, white, and blue graduation cord are active-duty service members, veterans of the U.S. military, and spouses or dependent family members of active-duty service members and veterans. Students should contact Leavenworth-KCKCC Pioneer Career Center at 913-288-7750. Military graduation cords will be distributed during Graduation check-in. Accommodations 

Reserved seating is available at the graduation ceremony for audience members who require accommodations due to a medical disability. Seating will be available on a first come, first served basis.  The area will be identified with “Reserved Seating” signs. If you have guests who meet the criteria for reserved seating, instruct them to arrive early to ensure seating. Individuals who require additional accommodations, i.e. sign language interpreting, should contact the Academic Resource Center at 913-288-7670 V/TDD to request needed services.

Degree Check

TEC Certificate candidates must complete a certificate check with a TEC counselor or advisor. TEC candidates should call 913-288-7813 and state which program you are completing to schedule an appointment with the appropriate counselor or advisor.

Career Program candidates must complete a certificate check by contacting your Program Coordinator to schedule an appointment.

Completion of all the Certificate Checks by March 20, 2017, will ensure name placement in the graduation ceremony program.

Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree candidates for graduation must complete a Degree Check in the Student Advising Center (SAC) by March 18, 2017 will ensure name placement in the graduation ceremony program. Please contact the SAC at 913-288-7696 to make an appointment, if you have not had a degree check. F1 Visa students must notify the Director of Admissions of their intent to graduate.

Summer 2017 graduation candidates may participate in the May 2017 ceremony only if the student is early enrolled in summer courses by April 15, 2017. Summer candidates must be within nine (9) credit hours of completing degree requirements and must have a degree check completed by April, 15, 2017.

All Associate Degree candidates must complete the Exit Exam in order to receive their diploma. Diplomas will be mailed to graduates approximately 6 to 8 weeks following the Graduation Ceremony to the address listed by the student on their Degree Check. You may update your address by completing the Student Update Form at the Front Desk in the Admissions and Records Office, or through your Student WebAdvisor account.
