Graduation Ceremonies

Commencement this year will be held on May 17, 2018 and there will be 2 ceremonies:

Associate in Arts Degree (AA); Associate in Science Degree (AS); Associate in General Studies Degree (AGS)

2:00 pm at the KCKCC Field House.

Certificate or Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degrees

7:00 pm at the KCKCC Field House.

Commencement participants must attend the ceremony that corresponds with the certificate or degree earned.

Graduation Deadlines

Students are responsible for meeting all graduation requirements at the College. One semester before graduation, students need to complete an application for graduation and a degree check in Student Advising.

Spring 2018  -   March 30, 2018



Graduation Fee

All students completing application for graduation are charged a $20.00 graduation fee. This fee is required even if students do not participate in commencement. If students do not meet graduation requirements, there is an $8.00 fee for the succeeding application. An $8.00 fee is required for orders of previously earned diplomas.

Cap & Gown - Graduation Announcements 

Cap and gown distribution will begin April 16, 2018 - May 16, 2018 through the KCKCC Bookstore during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

Caps and Gowns will also be available during the Bookstore's Book Buy Back Event May 8-14, 2018. Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.  The Bookstore is located on the lower level of the Jewell Student Center. Sizing availability of caps and gowns will be on a first come, first serve basis. Exact sizing cannot be guaranteed on the final days of distribution. Caps and gowns will be delivered to the Pioneer Career Center. Contact them early with your cap and gown size. 

Souvenir tassels may be purchased for $7.95 at the Bookstore.

Commencement exercises are held in May of each year. Students completing all degree requirements for the current Spring and Summer semester and prior Fall semesters are eligible to participate in the commencement. Summer candidates who are within 9 credit hours of completing degree requirements and enrolled in the courses needed to complete degree requirements are also eligible to participate.

All course work must be completed before students can receive honors recognition during commencement.

Honors at Graduation
Students with outstanding grades are eligible to graduate with honors if they meet the following requirements:

Cum Laude: achievement of a cumulative grade-point average of 3.40-3.69.
Magna Cum Laude: achievement of a cumulative grade-point average of 3.70 to 3.99.
Summa Cum Laude: achievement of a cumulative grade-point average of 4.00.

Students can graduate with honors if they have no more than 21 credit hours of Pass-No Credit courses, have not taken advantage of the Forgiveness Policy, and have not repeated a course with a grade of C or better. All course work must be completed before honors are awarded.
