Curriculum pathway leading to an Associate in General Studies in Liberal Arts & Sciences for students seeking a transfer degree to a 4-year institution.
The Theatre Technology program develops the knowledge and skills necessary for students to embark on careers as professional stage hands, stage carpenters, and stage electricians. Emphasis in this specialized program is on production. Many hours are required in the operation of the theatre plant, and the construction of scenery for theatrical events. This program comprises basic theatre technology, general education and advanced specialized technical courses.
Students who follow the program are assured technical opportunities in lighting, sound, set construction, and/or stage management each semester during the two-year program. Students may apply directly to the department for a scholarship.
General Education Requirements
College Requirement - All first time degree-seeking students who score 75 or above on the ACCUPLACER reading exam are required to take HUDV0100, Freshman Orientation (1 credit hour). All degree-seeking students who score below 75 on the ACCUPLACER reading exam will take HUDV 101, Strategies for Academic Excellence/Lifelong Learning (2 credit hours). (See exemptions)
