Curriculum Pathway Leading to an Associate in Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences for Students Seeking a Transfer Degree to a 4-Year Institution:

Mission

The Department of Physics Science mission is to develop in its students a comprehensive grasp of the principles of Physics Science. And to generate opportunities for optimized learning of Physics Science concepts and applications at all educational levels in an environment that promotes interdisciplinary interactions. We offer high quality learning experiences that include a variety of courses appropriate for a diverse student body. Each student is supported and challenged to excel within their chosen discipline, but also as members of a community of life-long learners. He or she is well prepared to pursue career in Physics Science or an allied field, to embark immediately upon a professional career in science, or to enter one of the numerous careers which require or are enhanced by a broad knowledge of science in today's technological society. Faculty are role models for creativity and scholarship in areas within and beyond Physics Science as they advice and mentor the students served by the department. We keep our laboratories equipped with research-capable resources to provide scholarly opportunities to both faculty and students, and we serve as a resource for the campus and community. The department foster and maintain relationships with regional high school faculty and students.

Since the transferability of courses will vary depending on the specific four-year institution, it is strongly recommended that if students are intending to transfer to four-year institutions, they must consult with the transfer institution and with their respective KCKCC advisors before enrolling in order to determine the transferability of their courses. It is the student’s responsibility to determine the transferability of his/her courses.
