AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT
OF METROPOLITAN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, AND
THE KANSAS CITY KANSAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Cooperative Program Points of Contact
This Contract is made and entered into for the academic year 2006-2007 by and between the Kansas City Kansas Community College, Kansas City, Kansas, hereinafter sometimes referred to as KCKCC and The Junior College District of Metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri on behalf of its campuses, hereinafter called MCC.
WHEREAS, KCKCC and MCC desire to implement for MCC students a cooperative program of Mortuary Science leading to an Associate in Applied Science from KCKCC or an Associate in Applied Science Degree from MCC.
NOW THEREFORE, KCKCC and MCC agree as follows:
- ADMINISTRATION: KCKCC shall:
- Permit students from MCC to enroll in KCKCC’s Mortuary Science program. During the term of this contract, KCKCC will determine, based upon availability of its staff and facilities, how many MCC students may enroll in this program.
- Supply to MCC students so admitted professional training in theory and supervised experience to span a sequence of four semesters. Specific courses to be given at KCKCC to such MCC students are those courses designated in the curriculum set forth in Section III below.
- Award an associate in applied science to those MCC students who successfully complete the prescribed KCKCC curriculum.
- ADMINISTRATION: MCC shall:
- Pay to KCKCC, upon receipt of billing, tuition established by the KCKCC Board of Trustees for Non-Kansas residents. Payment is restricted to those courses taught at KCKCC as listed in Section III below. Out-of-state tuition shall be paid by MCC.
- Cooperate in the recruitment and selection of applicants for the Mortuary Science program.
- Mortuary Science Program Curriculum: Specific information pertaining to course descriptions, electives, and graduation requirements should be obtained from the current KCKCC catalog or catalog supplement.
Program Name: Mortuary Science
Applicants for this program must meet all requirements for their particular state boards.
A 2.00 (C) overall average grade must be achieved in all course work. This includes all previous college level courses taken, regardless of the institution.

- ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES: To be considered a bona fide enrollee, a student must be concurrently enrolled in a minimum of nine hours. The student must make application to and be accepted by both institutions. Final acceptance into the program will be determined on criteria established by the staff of the KCKCC Mortuary Science program. Applicants will receive written notification to verify their acceptance. Both parties to this Contract agree to comply with the provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
- EXPLANATION: Parties to the Contract are responsible for explaining the terms of the Contract to members of the staff of their respective institutions and promoting a positive attitude on the part of all concerned in adhering to both the letter and the spirit of this Contract.
- REPORTS, INSPECTIONS, AUDITS: Periodic and special reports of enrollment, staffing and budgetary information will be made available to the Kansas Board of Regents as it may request. The Board and its agents may inspect and audit any of the financial records relevant to the program and may enter and inspect any physical facility related to any such Contract whether in Kansas or Missouri.
- TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT: Any provisions of this Agreement to the contrary notwithstanding, this contract may be terminated by either party by given written notification prior to May 1 of the year in which said Contract is to be terminated; such notice of termination shall specify that said Contract will be terminated on June 1 of that year. Students who are then currently enrolled in essential courses may complete the same and the terms of this contract shall be continued, insofar as such students are concerned until their normal graduating date. This Contract is to be reviewed by the Vice Chancellor of Educational Services/Instructional Technology, MCC, and the President, Kansas City Kansas Community College, at the end of the Contract year for the purpose of making recommendations to the respective College Boards of Trustees for its continuation or termination. In the event it is determined that said Agreement should remain in effect, it may be amended by the mutual agreement of the parties with the approval of the State Board of Education.
- CHANGE, LIMITATION OR TERMINATION BY KANSAS LEGISLATURE: This Contract is specifically subject to the provisions of K.S.A. 71-202, wherein provision is made that this Contract is specifically subject to change, limitation, alteration or termination by the Legislature of the State of Kansas at any time. In the event that this Contract is changed, limited, altered or terminated by the Kansas State Legislature without said change, limitation, alteration or termination having received prior written approval from The Junior College District of Metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri, this Contract shall be immediately terminated, and any obligations of The Junior College District of the Metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri, to KCKCC and KCKCC students otherwise existing pursuant to the terms of this Contract shall immediately cease.
