Refund Policy

KCKCC will automatically issue a 100% refund if a course is canceled because of insufficient enrollment.

15-Week Classes:
Students who officially drop a course before August 18 can receive a 100% refund; a 90% tuition & fees refund is issued during the first week of classes, August 18 through August 22, 2009; and a 50% tuition refund from August 25 through August 28, 2009, regardless of when a student enrolls. There is no refund for course withdrawal after August 28, 2009. Students must officially drop their classes through WebAdvisor© or in the Admissions and Records Office on August 18 through August 22, 2009 or through the Admissions and Records Office only from August 18 through August 29, 2009.

If the student has received federal Title IV student financial aid during the term (PELL, grant, SEOG, Stafford loan, or a PLUS loan), the student may be entitled to a return of Title IV Funds calculation. Students who do not receive federal Title IV aid are not entitled to these calculations. Further information is available in the Financial Aid Office and Business Office.

100% Refund for tuition and fees if classes are dropped and processed in the Admissions and Records Office or via WebAdvisor© before - but not on - the first day of the semester, session, or class. This includes semester, summer, 4 to 8 week, late starting, and mini-courses.

90% Refund for tuition and fees if classes are dropped and processed in the Admissions and Records Office or via WebAdvisor© within the first week of classes (five working days) for semester courses, summer courses, 4 to 8 week courses, and late starting courses.

50% Refund for tuition and fees if classes are dropped and processed by the Admissions and Records Office only within the second week of classes (10 working days) for semester courses only.

For courses less than eight (8) weeks in length, if students drop the class prior to the first day of classes, they will receive a 100% refund. No refund will be issued after the class begins. Refunds are calculated based on the day the student officially drops a class in the Admissions and Records Office, not when the student stops attending class.

Dropping/Withdrawing:Students wanting to drop a class during the first week of the semester may do so via WebAdvisor©, by completing add/drop form in the Admissions and Records Office or by submitting their drop request in writing by mail or fax.

Students wanting to withdraw from a class must submit a withdrawal form to the Admissions and Records Office or by submitting a written request by mail or fax.

Any student who fails to officially drop or withdraw from a class, may receive an “F” and will still be held financially responsible. Please refer to the academic calendar contained in this schedule. IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO DROP OR WITHDRAW FROM CLASSES.

Student Withdrawals

Students may have a W posted on their transcript instead of a letter grade by officially withdrawing from a course. Students are required to pay for withdrawn courses. To officially withdraw, students must submit a withdrawal form to the Admissions and Records Office. Students may withdraw using written notification to the Admissions and Records Office postmarked by the published final withdrawal date. If students stop attending but do not officially withdraw from a course, an F is posted on their transcript. The deadlines for withdrawing are as follows:
Semester courses (16 weeks):
Students may withdraw up to three (3) weeks before the start of final examinations.

Summer session, mid-term, and block courses:
Students may withdraw up to two (2) weeks before final examinations.

Mini-courses:
Withdrawals are not allowed after classes start.

Students have the option of appealing for a refund for any course. A letter must be submitted along with supporting documents to the Dean of Enrollment Management/Registrar. Decisions are based upon both the college refund policy and the information provided by the student.

Dropping or withdrawing from classes could affect your Financial Aid. Check with Financial Aid Office for more information.

Textbooks:
Full textbook refunds are granted until August 31, 2009.
