Exercise Science, Associate in General Studies in Liberal Arts and Sciences

Curriculum pathway leading to an Associate in General Studies for students transferring into the following 4-year program:

The Exercise Science Program offers an Associate in General Studies in Liberal Arts & Sciences Degree and a Certificate Program. Within the associate degree program, students can select one of four areas of specialization: health/fitness, physical education, coaching, or athletic trainer. Students selecting the Health/Fitness specialization are eligible upon completion of this degree to take the American College of Sports Medicine Health/Fitness Certification Exam.  NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) officially recognizes the Health/Fitness specialization curriculum as meeting their established criteria and are eligible to take the NSCA, Personal Trainer Certificate Exam.  Students who complete the certificate program are eligible to take the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Leader Certification Exam.

Athletic Trainer Option
Since the transferability of courses will vary depending on the specific four-year institution, it is strongly recommended that if students are intending to transfer to a four-year institution, they must consult with the transfer institution and with their respective KCKCC advisor before enrolling in order to determine the transferability of their courses. College Requirement - All first time degree-seeking students who score 73 or above on the COMPASS reading exam are required to take HUDV0100, First Year Experience. All degree-seeking students who score below 73 on the COMPASS reading exam will take HUDV0101, Strategies for Academic Excellence/Lifelong Learning. (See exemptions)
