Youth Programs

The National Youth Sports Program (N.Y.S.P.) is a five-week summer program open to youths ages 10-16. The program is supported by the college along with several community partners including Kansas City, Kansas Unified Government Parks & Recreation, the American Red Cross, and KCK USD 500 Kids Zone. Participants now pay a nominal fee for the camp.

The program offers youth an opportunity to participate in various competitive and leisure sports activities and career and educational activities. A nucleus of trained professionals, along with student athletes and College support staff, provide instruction. Each youth receives two USDA approved meals each day, athletic equipment to use during the program, and T-shirts.

The program helps them to improve physical fitness, acquire good health practices, become better citizens, and increase their familiarity with career and educational opportunities by interacting with their peers and with personnel and through the use of facilities and equipment in an institution or higher education.

Additional youth programming is offered each semester and is listed in the Continuing Education schedule.
