The Wellness & Fitness Center is located on the upper level of the Allied Health Building.  The facility offers an indoor track, weight room, aerobic studio, treadmills, bicycles, ellipticals, steppers, aerobic circuit and Group Fitness Classes.  The facility operates year round, but will be closed on the dates in accordance to the college academic calendar.  The hours of operation for the fall and spring semesters are 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Closed on Sundays.  The hours of operation for the summer semester are 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Closed on Sundays.  All changes to the hours of operation are posted in advance in the facility whenever possible.  However, they are subject to change without notice.

The Wellness & Fitness Center facility offers locker rooms, shower facilities, and provides a free towel service.  Optional services include personal training, body composition and girth measurements, and complete fitness testing.  Incentive programs and health and nutritional seminars are offered throughout the semester.  The annual Blue Devil 5k Fun/Run Walk event is sponsored by the Wellness & Fitness Center at the end of the spring semester in May.

How to enroll
The Wellness & Fitness Center is open for enrollment to any person who is 18 years of age and is eligible to enroll.  Enrollment in the Wellness & Fitness Center can be done through the various enrollment processes or directly in the Wellness & Fitness Center through mid-term.  You must be enrolled in a Wellness & Fitness Center class to gain access to the Wellness & Fitness Center.  There is a minimum of 22 workout hours that have to be completed inside the Wellness & Fitness Center in order to pass the course.  All participants, including college students, current or retired college employees, and community members are required to bring a student ID card each time they visit the facility.  Please note:  This is a one credit hour course that is available to be repeated each semester.  Enrollment fees can be paid for through financial aid, scholarships and grants, or out of pocket.  Prices are subject to change upon College Board of Trustees approval.

Orientation & Fitness Screening
All new participants enrolled in the Wellness & Fitness Center are required to have an orientation and fitness screening.  Returning participants need to have an updated consent & release form once a year.  All orientations are scheduled at the facility front desk.  Stop by or call (913)288-7610 for available times.  At the orientation, participants are expected to complete the confidential consent & release forms that include a PAR-Q to determine their physical activity readiness, and have their heart rate and blood pressure taken.  If you are a male over the age of 45 or a female over the age of 55, or if you have any medical issues, you will need to bring a doctor’s release in order to exercise.  Doctors’ consent forms can be mailed, hand delivered, or faxed to the Wellness & Fitness Center at (913)288-7527.  Following the fitness screening and the classroom part of the orientation, new participants will be given a tour of the facility.  This is a good time to ask fitness or facility-related questions.
