Your journey toward understanding how to help others begins with the KCKCC Addiction Counselor Program (ACP). The ACP is a two-year program leading to an Associate in Arts degree with a major in Addiction Counseling. Program standards are designed to prepare the graduate for the process of certification as developed by the Kansas Association of Addiction Professionals (KAAP) and Missouri Substance Abuse Certification Board. The ACP is transferable into 2 2 programs and other advanced college degrees.

The Addiction Counselor Program is comprehensive, offering general education, chemical dependency courses and clinical experiences in various local treatment programs. Students will gain in-depth understanding of incidence, theories of cause, psychological, social factors and physiology associated with substance abuse. A primary emphasis is placed upon developing self-awareness, professional counseling skills and knowledge in order to increase the employment potential of the Addiction Counselor Program graduate.

The Addiction Counselor Program is approved by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, Substance Abuse Treatment Recovery (SATR) and the Department of Education.
