Paralegal

as Legal Assistant

Associates in Applied Science     Course Descriptions

A paralegal plays an important role in many aspects of the legal profession. Under the supervision of an attorney, a paralegal may interview clients, perform research, prepare documents, and assist at trial.

Widely varied employment opportunities exist for a well-educated legal assistant. Many law firms, banks, real estate offices, legislatures, corporations, and governmental agencies recognize the capabilities and value of legal assistants.

The program at KCKCC is designed to integrate theory with practical applications of legal knowledge that enhance student placement possibilities after graduation. Both day and evening classes are offered for students working toward an Associate of Applied Science Degree and Paralegal Certificate. Job placement assistance is available through position announcements, interviews with the Planning and Placement office, and networking contact with local legal assistant organizations.
