Dale Shetler, Professor of Music

Dale Shetler has been a member of the Music Department for 15 years as the director of choral activities. Born in Washington state, he graduated from Clark Community College in Vancouver where he was the soloist performing Haydn's "Trumpet Concerto." He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, at Western Washington University in Bellingham where he was the a cappella choir baritone soloist.
Dale completed his Master of Arts degree at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. He was the assistant director of the Concert Choir and sang the role of Figaro in Puccini's "Barber of Seville."
He has done Doctoral studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. While at the Conservatory he conducted "UMKC Singers" and was the assistant conductor of the renowned Heritage Chorale. Shetler also supervised the "student teaching" program and taught Choral Methods.
Mr. Shetler has studied with Eph Ely, Paul Solamunivich, Robert Shaw, Howard Swan, Hemult Rilling, Maurice Skones, among others. He is the choir director at the St. Elizabeth Church in Kansas City, MO.
Shetler ensembles have performed in ACDA State and Regional Conventions, State Music Educator National Conventions and in many invited Choir Festivals throughout the Nation including the Oklahoma Mozart Festival. His choirs have performed in workshops at Juliard, and in spaces such as Chester Cathedral, England; Christ Church, Oxford; St. John the Evangelist, New York; St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York.
