MATH0105 - College Algebra
Fall 2008
Many of our math courses use publisher software to deliver all or part of the content. The following information will assist you in accessing the software that is used in your course.

The ONLINE course: MATH0105 College Algebra with a code of OC- Sections 01, 02, and 04 use Plato's Interactive Math. Install this software utilizing the disk in the text. Check your home computer requirements at the following URL: http://support.plato.com/requirements.asp. Macintosh users may need to purchase additional software to use Academic Systems Interactive Mathematics by Plato Learning, Inc. The text including the disks is available in the KCKCC bookstore.
We recommend you install the Interactive Mathematics software (disk labeled "Client Installer Disk" in the back of the book) by the first day of the semester so that you are ready for your class. Make sure that you follow all the directions provided. It is very important for successful installation that you disable your anti-virus protection program and firewall during the installation. If you should run into difficulties with the installation, contact Academic Systems Technical Support. The tech support number is 1-800-681-4357. Their hours are 8 am until 10 pm CST Monday through Friday.
MATH0105 College Algebra with a code of OC - Section 03 uses MYMathLAB by Pearson Education. You may access through the URL: www.coursecompass.com. You will need the Student Access Kit that you purchased with your textbook. Your instructor will provide you with the access code. The tech support number is 1-800-677-6337. Their hours are 8 am until 8 pm EST Monday through Friday and 5 pm until 12 am EST on Sunday. The MYMATHLAB software by Pearson Education is compatible with a Macintosh and with a PC.
The ON GROUND course: MATH0105 College Algebra - Sections 08 uses Hawkes Learning Systems. Macintosh users may need to purchase additional software to use Hawkes Learning Systems. The tech support number is 1-843-571-2825. Their hours are 8:30 am until 5:30 pm EST Monday through Friday. You must install the disk that is in the textbook.
Instructions for installing:
- Place disk in CD Rom drive, then double-click on Setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.
- When prompted for a Course ID: select "Yes, the Course ID is:" and enter the Course ID provided by your instructor. Once the installation is complete, there will be a purple diamond icon on your desktop (or you may access the program by -- Start, Programs, and Hawkes Learning Systems).
- To access your course: double-click on the purple diamond icon on the Desktop
- When prompted for an Access Code, click I Need an Access Code to be directed to Hawkes Learning Systems website.
- Fill out the form (including your 15-digit license number from the yellow sticker on the CD sleeve). Click Submit and your personalized Access Code will display onscreen. You will also receive an e-mail with the access code in the body of the text and as an attachment called "access.cod" which you may save to diskette, My Documents, or other location.
- To use the software:
- Double-click on the purple diamond icon on your Desktop (or from Start, All Programs, Hawkes Learning Systems).
- Enter your Access Code:
- If you type or paste your access code you will be given the opportunity to save the access code to a file to avoid typing it each time.
- To load the access code from a file, click Load From File, browse to the location where the access.cod file was saved, and click Open.
- To enroll in your instructor's course: enter the Course ID, then choose your instructor and section from the pull-down menus. Complete assignments as instructed.
