Department Mission Statement
To respond to the need for qualified EMS professional who help to preserve life, improve health, and promote safety with particular attention to the needs of the greater Kansas City area.


EMTC Programs Offered

Emergency Medical Responder
This course provides the opportunity to gain the knowledge and develop the essential skills necessary to administer basic life support to ill or injured patients. This is the most basic course offered in the EMTC department. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to take the National Registry EMR certification test.

Emergency Medical Technician
This course provide the opportunity to gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to administer basic life support to ill or injured patients. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the National Registry EMT certification test.

There are two pathways to completing the EMT program at KCKCC. The traditional pathway takes a semester and a half to complete and is comprised of EMTC 0123 and EMTC 0124. The Accelerated Pathway takes one semester to complete and is comprised of EMTC 0128.

Paramedic/Fire Medic
These programs provide knowledge and skills in advanced life support procedures. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible to take the National Registry Paramedic certification test.
