The Tutoring Services program at Kansas City Kansas Community College is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association. The Program is composed of the following services:

  • Math Tutoring Center that assists students with most math courses offered at KCKCC
  • Reading & Writing Center that is staffed by Professional Tutors that provide one-on-one assistance as well as Online Writing Consultations
  • Individual/Group Peer Tutoring

Requesting Service

Students who are interested in receiving tutoring must come to the Academic Resource Center and request the service or apply for the service online. Each semester, approximately 300-500 currently enrolled KCKCC students self-identify and request tutoring, or are identified by instructors, through the Early Alert Program, as students who could possibly benefit from tutoring.

Summer 2014 Tutoring

Tutoring will begin June 3, 2014 and end on July 17, 2014. Tutoring is provided free of charge to currently enrolled KCKCC students. For math, reading and writing assistance, students are encouraged to utilize the Math Tutoring Center and/or Reading & Writing Center located within the Academic Resource Center (ARC). Individual and Online Tutoring are also available.

Online Tutoring

Students will need a Skype account and internet access. Students with a Kansas City Kansas Public Library card are encouraged to utilize the free, real-time tutoring provided in partnership with Tutor.com.
Additional Information

ONLINE TUTORING

Complete the Request for Tutoring form on myDotte and select Online as your preferred tutoring location. Requests are processed within 5-7 business days. Generally, online tutoring is conducted via Skype. Students will need a Skype account and internet access. Students with a Kansas City Kansas Public Library card are encouraged to utilize the free, real-time tutoring provided in partnership with Tutor.com.

Online Writing Consultations

A tutor will read and respond to your email within 24 hours. Since we are not open weekends, papers submitted after 12:00 p.m. on Friday will not be responded to until the following Monday.
How to use this service

Online Writing Consultations

To use this service, send an email to writingcenter@kckcc.edu with the following:

1. the course you are in and your instructor’s name,
2. a description of the assignment with the due date, &
3. your attached paper in a Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format. A tutor will read and respond to your email within 24 hours. Since we are not open weekends, papers submitted after 12:00 p.m. on Friday will not be responded to until the following Monday. At times, due to volume, the response time may be 48 hours. Please plan ahead.

No tutoring when classes are not in session.

Peer Tutoring

Individual and Group Peer Tutoring is available by request, on an as-needed basis, for most courses offered at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
